February 2021, By Erik de Potter End of January 2021, ZDHC published an addendum to the ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines Version 1.1. While the original guidelines were only aimed at textile production, this new addendum expands the scope to include the leather industry. The approach is the same for both textile and leather, but the requirements differ. Leather manufacturers who have an account in the ZDHC GateWay can access their wastewater analyses to the brands in their supply chain. The brands can then use these data to assess their performance in sustainability. Part of the wastewater analyses is on the presence of substances on the ZDHC MRSL. Many Smit and Codyeco products are already certified to comply with these requirements and thus will help you improve your sustainability performance.
