It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Joost Smit, at the age of 83. Joost, 6th generation owner of Royal Smit & Zoon, passed away on Friday, June 19. Joost Smit played a defining role in shaping Royal Smit & Zoon into the company it is today. With vision, dedication and an unwavering love for the company, he guided the organization through decades of growth and development. Until 2006, he served as CEO, after which he remained closely involved as a member of the Supervisory Board. Smit & Zoon was truly his heart and soul. We are deeply grateful for everything Joost has meant to Royal Smit & Zoon, and for the many lasting contributions he made to our company and industry. We cherish the many wonderful memories and will continue to honour his legacy in the years to come.
