ACLE: Zeology leather taking Shanghai by storm

Royal Smit & Zoon will be present at the ACLE from September 3-5, 2025. The exhibition in Shanghai brings all of the steps involved in leather production together, from the sourcing of hides, to tanning and finishing. At ACLE, visitors can discover Zeology leather. At the booth, we demonstrate that Zeology leather offers all the best characteristics of leather, while at the same time being completely compostable. This makes Zeology leather a complete reinvention of leather, perfectly suitable for application in footwear, leather goods and automotive.

Zeology leather is tanned with zeolite, an element naturally present in the Earth’s crust, and processed sustainably. Meaning you could even put your leather item into the soil, once you are done using it. The grade A compost that will remain after decomposing, even promotes plant growth!
