Royal Smit & Zoon maintains EcoVadis GOLD Rating – recognizing its leading position in sustainability

We are proud to announce that Royal Smit & Zoon maintained its EcoVadis GOLD medal. With this recognition, Royal Smit & Zoon belongs to the top 9% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis and it demonstrates our efforts true to our strategy to “Create a socially and environmentally sustainable value chain, together”.

The EcoVadis rating methodology includes an evidence-based assessment of a companies’ non-financial management systems through reviewing policies, actions and results. It assesses a companies’ sustainability performance across a range of issues grouped into four impact themes: “Environment”, “Labor & Human Rights”, “Ethics” and “Sustainable Procurement”.

EcoVadis continuously develops and improves its assessment, positively impacting sustainability performance across value chains, fostering transparency and driving innovation. Maintaining our GOLD medal therefore confirms our progress in all these areas. At the same time, it strengthens our commitment, drives our efforts and reassures the need of continuous collaboration with all our stakeholders in creating a more sustainable leather value chain.

EcoVadis sustainability assessments focus on 21 issues which are grouped into 4 areas of key impacts (Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, Sustainable Procurement). The 21 issues or criteria are based upon international sustainable development standards such as the Global Compact Principles, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard, the ISO 26000 standard. Ecovadis is globally recognized with over 75.000 organizations rated to date.
