Every colleague will answer the same questions. 5 questions for… Floor Bosman What does your work environment at Royal Smit & Zoon look like? Smit’s nicest and coziest office is located on the top floor of our office in Weesp. It’s the HR office! Our door is always open and you will find something tasty in the candy jar… I would call my desk situation ‘structured chaos’, although you will never find privacy-sensitive documents there if I am not around! What do you do in a day? Each day is different and that’s what makes it so much fun. As HR director, I work with and for people, which means that you encounter all kinds of things. Sometimes you talk to a colleague about his development or what he needs, in order to do his job even better. The next time you are in a conversation with a sick employee and his manager. I am also responsible for HR policy. So that means looking at what is going on in the labor market and tailoring this to the needs of the organization and people. Together with my team. Floor Bosman HR Director What is your favorite leather item, and why? My boxing gloves! With my previous pair I was tempted to go for a pink pair. However, these turned out not to be made of real leather and were broken within a year. That’s why I’m so happy with the buffalo ones I have now! What is your favorite project you have worked on so far? Or, if you have just joined the company: what drew you to working at Royal Smit & Zoon? I started sending newsletters to our employees and managers to inform them about our HR projects and ongoing issues. The training about the new generation and the Eyes working group that emerged from this, was certainly a highlight. The fact that we are updating our job profiles and that we have started setting up our LMS (Learning Management System), which means we will get rid of a lot of paper checklists, are really great steps. And I am so happy with the HR Team, we really do these kinds of things together! What sustainable actions are you taking, at work or in your personal life? I have been cycling to work, from Amsterdam, for a few weeks now! Back to globe stories
