I’m a Plant Support Chemist for the Weesp production site. Most of the time, I work in the lab/production in Weesp. My main role is to enable the transfer of recipes from R&D to production scale, to support the plant in solving production issues, and to continuously look for ways to improve production processes. What are your responsibilities at Royal Smit & Zoon? I like my work because every day is different. Working with production encourages me to be creative when an issue occurs, or a process needs to be improved. I also like my role because I can collaborate with different departments, such as production, purchase, planning, and product management . This allows me to get a nice overview of how the company is interconnected. Geraldine Hernandez Plant Support Chemist What is your favorite leather item, and why? At the moment, my favorite leather item is this new pair of trekking boots that I bought during my holidays in Colombia. They are comfy and were made in a region of the country that specializes in the craftsman production of leather goods. Royal Smit & Zoon is driven by a purpose. My purpose is to contribute to more efficient and sustainable production processes and to ensure that the products developed by R&D are implemented in production and meet the quality standards set during their development.
