Every colleague will answer the same questions. 5 questions for… Hany Ibrahim What does your work environment at Royal Smit & Zoon look like? I mostly work from the office, as I prefer it to working from home. So I am basically in the office in Weesp Monday to Friday. I try to keep my desk as clean as possible. I can be easily distracted with piles of items on desk. What do you do in a day? Normally, I start my day with coffee downstairs and head to the finance department. I try to check emails and plan my day/week, based on priorities. Once I finish that, I accomplish my day schedule as much as I can to avoid any bottlenecks. My tasks revolve around reporting, ESG, tax and some ad hoc activities. On a daily basis, I try to get as much steps as possible in and usually will go for a half hour walk with the purchase department, during lunch time. I try to speak Dutch at least for the time I’m walking, to practice as much Dutch as I can. Hany Ibrahim Finance Specialist What is your favorite leather item, and why? My favorite leather item is a good quality duffle pack. I call a duffel pack the bag to have, since you can use it in everyday life. Be it storing gym clothes, for short trips, vacations and also to work. They are stylish, trendy and can fit a lot of stuff. It is the bag to have. What is your favorite project you have worked on so far? Or, if you have just joined the company: what drew you to working at Royal Smit & Zoon? Finalizing the Financial report for the year 2024. It was a positive challenge and also working together with colleagues to bring the financial statement to its current state is wonderful. What sustainable actions are you taking, at work or in your personal life? Any action that promotes sustainability holds a place in my heart. I am aware of my gas and electric usage in my house. I try to challenge myself on how much I save every year in terms of gas and electric usage. Recently I have changed all my lamps in the house to LED lamps. Every year whatever I saved on electric or gas is a bonus to my expense towards my vacation. Back to globe stories
