Smit & Zoon hands out scholarship fund to Shaanxi University of Science & Technology, Xi'An China
Smit & zoon, global manufacturer of leather processing products, today announced that it has handed out a scholarship fund to Shaanxi University of Science & Technology in Xi’an, China. The University will use this fund for research on sustainable leather manufacturing.
Hans van Haarst, CEO of Smit & zoon, says: “China is an important market for us and we are therefore keen to support Chinese tanneries in meeting the ever stricter rules and regulations in the area of sustainability. This is in line with our ambition to make the leather value chain more sustainable. The research Shaanxi University has been doing in the area of leather manufacturing is of a very high level and we are therefore pleased to be able to contribute to further research thanks to this scholarship. I congratulate Prof. Wang and his team on their great work so far and look forward to working with them towards a more sustainable leather industry.”
